This series explores the life of my brother Kane, who lives with the severe anxiety condition known as Selective Mutism. The condition makes it physically impossible for Kane to speak or oftentimes even interact with people outside of his immediate family and a very exclusive couple of friends in early childhood (although this is now also not a possibility for him).

This condition has somewhat worsened over the last few years and has left Kane isolated. He hasn’t left the family home in over a year, as he hasn’t felt physically able to leave the house due to fear of possible interactions with those that don’t know of his condition and would expect him to talk.

However, Kane plans for things to change, he is about to become an Uncle and he wants to be able to interact with his Nephew, Jefferson and start exploring the outside world again.

It will be a long and difficult process, but Kane is adamant that he will achieve his goals and no longer be confined to the house.
